After your baby’s birth, you can no longer sleep uninterruptedly at night. This is also the case for your husband. Your little one will undoubtedly wake you up at night because of hunger or pain.
Tip: A father shouldn’t expect things to go back to what they were before the birth of the child. He must feel content with the new reality. The best option is to take an afternoon nap after work. Let him relax in your room for some time and stay with your baby somewhere else.
When going out on weekends, your husband should now drive more carefully; as there’s your baby in their car seat in the backseat.
He also needs to wait longer for you to get ready before going out with him; you’re not only getting dressed now, but also preparing all your baby’s needs and things.
If your husband likes wildlife activities, he now has to do them on his own; you can no longer walk by his side amongst nature carrying your little one.
He can no longer turn up the volume of the TV. If, for example, he decides to watch a football match, he can’t scream to express his excitement; you’ll always remind him that the baby’s sleeping.
The answer? Don’t suffocate him. Suggest that he spends time with his friends every now and then. This helps him overcome his feeling of anxiety because of the new situation.
After the birth of your baby, your husband no longer has your attention as he used to; as most of your time goes to taking care of your little one.
To make sure your husband doesn’t feel neglected and left out, try to spend some time with him while your little one sleeps, for example.
And why not ask a relative for help taking care of your baby for some time and spend some hours with your partner during the weekend.
You can also surprise him every now and then with things he likes. For example, make his favourite dish and watch a show he likes with him.
Don’t forget to ask him about his day when he comes home from work. This will make him feel you still care for him.
