First 24 hours with your baby after their birth. What should you do for things to go well? It’s important that you take some steps that help organize your life. It is also helpful that you plan ahead to handle your new situation comfortably.
Tips to live great times with your newborn
Your baby’s born and you’re still in the hospital, longing for home. On the other hand, you’re very worried about the new situation.
But there’s no need for you to be if you’re fully prepared for it. It’s important before you go to the hospital to make all your preparations, from clothes to the tiniest details.
Recharge your batteries as much as you can
When your baby arrives, and although they need all your time and care, try to rest whenever you can to recharge your batteries.
So make sure you organize your daily routine after you go home. For example, set time for visits. There’s no need to have your house full of visitors at all times.
Try to go to sleep at the same time as your baby’s bedtime. This will help you get yourself together and recharge your batteries.
Ask your mother or sister to help you, for example. Let them help you during your baby’s bath, or bring you things you need for cooking, for example.
Face post-partum depression
Don’t worry if you’re a little frustrated. This is normal, it is called “post-partum depression”. This is linked to the quick drop in your hormone levels, and this annoying feeling often fades within days.
Don’t think too much about housework and your other duties. Focus instead on your baby and allow this phase to pass quietly until you regain your normal lifestyle.
Encourage dad to help
After your baby’s birth, your husband may feel as though there’s no place for him in this new reality.
However, you can make him overcome this feeling and take some responsibility off your shoulders. For example, you can call him and ask him to bring some things your baby needs. There’s no doubt this will make him happy and help build a healthy relationship between him and his newborn.
